The Institute for Healthcare Studies at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University seeks a full-time, health economist faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This position requires demonstrated ability to conduct scholarly research and obtain peer-reviewed funding. Applicants must have a PhD in health economics, health services research, or a closely related field. The ideal candidate should have research interests and expertise in applied research in areas including, but not limited to, health economics, economic evaluation, and health policy analysis. The ideal candidate will be expected to pursue an externally-funded research agenda while collaborating with other departments and divisions, centers and institutes within the Feinberg School of Medicine, and across Northwestern University. The position also includes opportunity to teach in the Institute's Master and PhD programs in Health Services and Outcomes Research and to mentor post-doctoral fellows in the Integrated Fellowship in Health Services and Outcomes Research.
The mission of the Institute for Healthcare Studies at the Feinberg School of Medicine is to be the home for health services and outcomes research by coordinating, originating, and promoting, inter-disciplinary, multi-departmental research and education for the purpose of improving safety, quality, equity, effectiveness and policy of healthcare.
Six centers support the vision and mission of the Institute for Healthcare Studies through focused and collaborative research: Center for Healthcare Equity, Health Economics Center, Center for Maternal-Child Healthcare, Chronic Disease Care and Outcomes Center, Center in Health Policy and Implementation and the NU Center for Healthcare Quality and Safety Innovation. Each center provides a home for investigators conducting related research under the health services research umbrella of clinical and translational, outcomes, and comparative effectiveness.
