The Faculty of Economic Sciences at the Georg-August-University Goettingen/Germany invites applicants for a
Full Professorship in Indian Economic Development (Salary W3).

Applications are invited from candidates working in any field of economics who have a demonstrated regional specialization in South Asia and an interest in empirical research. This includes particularly candidates in development economics, but also those in fields such as microeconomics, public economics, international economics, labour economics, or industrial economics, if their work is related to Indian economic development issues. Candidates must be open to developing interdisciplinary research collaborations with CeMIS faculty, the economics faculty, as well as interdisciplinary initiatives such as the Courant Research Centre Poverty, Equity, and Growth in Developing and Transition Countries.

Teaching responsibilities include contributions to, and further development of, interdisciplinary Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Modern Indian Studies. Participation in other teaching in the Faculty of Economic Sciences to which the professorship is affiliated is encouraged, and contribution to PhD training within the Goettingen Graduate School of Social Sciences and associated Research Training Groups is welcomed.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in economics and a recognized research reputation documented by high level publications in refereed journals. Conditions for appointment are laid down in § 25 of the Higher Education Law of Lower Saxony of 26.02.2007 (Official Law Gazette of Lower Saxony, Nds. GVBl. 5/ 2007 p. 69). As a Public Law Foundation, the University of Goettingen holds the right of appointment. Further details will be explained on request.
