Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Office of Policy Analysis at the Department of the Interior, is seeking a natural resource economist with a specialization in energy. Depending on grade level, this specialization could range from some research experience and a strong interest in energy to a practicing energy economist. Interior's energy interests include fossil fuels, wind, solar, geothermal, and hydroelectric. Knowledge of fossil fuel industries is a plus. This is a high visibility position with the potential to be involved in current policy issues and related research. The major duties include: familiarity with Interior mineral leasing policies; monitoring energy and mineral markets and interpreting market developments; assisting in the design of economic studies to be executed by other bureaus and offices; assessing trends in the overall economy as well as in fossil fuel markets in terms of their effects on Interior's leasing activities; conduct economic and statistical analyses of natural resource policy issues; and extend and apply economic and financial analysis techniques to selected natural resource and environmental issues.
