The Department of Economics at Swarthmore College seeks to fill a two year Mellon Foundation post-doctoral position in economics beginning in Fall 2012. Candidates should be committed to excellence in both teaching and research. The Fellowship is intended to allow the fellow to develop a research program while getting experience teaching in a small liberal arts college. The teaching load is two courses in the first year and three in the second.

Applicants' research should be in the area of "humanistic economics" which includes scholarship and teaching that broadly address the human condition; relevant areas of research and teaching include but are not limited to poverty, racial segregation, income inequality, health economics, development economics, and environmental economics. Applicants should be within three years of receiving their PhD and must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
