A Teaching Fellow position renewable up to three years is available in the Economics Department at Washington College, starting in August 2012. The teaching load is 3 courses per semester for a total of 6 courses per year. Three of these 6 courses (2 preparations) will be first- year GRW seminars that are open to students of any major, have a global focus, and emphasize development of skills in research, writing and presentation. The other three courses will be introductory economics courses or upper level economics electives from any field taught in the Economics Department. Advising a group of first-year students is also required. Candidates should have experience teaching courses with a significant writing component and advising students. The Teaching Fellow will participate in the first-year faculty mentoring program, receive special training for advising, and be eligible for other faculty development opportunities. Candidates with a PhD in economics are strongly preferred, but ABD's in economics may be considered.
