The Department of Economics invites applications for a renewable, one-year College Associate Lecturer position beginning August 20, 2012 and ending May 15, 2013. We seek an applied micro-economist with the ability to teach courses in areas such as Public Economics, Health Economics, Environmental Economics, Industrial Organization, or Urban Economics. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated effectiveness in teaching. A Ph.D. in Economics is required for this position. Applicants must complete their Ph.D. by July 1, 2012 to be considered for appointment.
Normal teaching load is up to 16 credit hours (four courses) per semester. An adjusted load may be possible depending on course assignments. The position is annually renewable for an additional five years based on satisfactory performance, programmatic needs and university financial resources. After a comprehensive sixth year review, the appointee will be eligible for two successive three-year appointments and six-year appointments thereafter.
Application requirements consist of a letter of application, current C.V., evidence of teaching effectiveness, and three letters of recommendation. Only the letter of application and C.V. will be accepted via email. Other supporting materials, including letters of recommendation, must be sent by U.S. mail, FedEx, etc. to be considered. The letters of recommendation should be sent under separate cover. Evidence of effective teaching must be demonstrated at the time of interview. Review of applications will begin on March 1, 2012 and continue until the position is filled.
