The Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver invites nominations and applications to fill the Leo Block endowed chair in International Studies. We seek a senior-level scholar, or scholar-practitioner, with specialization in international development. The position is open with respect to disciplinary specialization and methodological skills, and applicants with development interests at the global, national/regional, and local-community levels are encouraged to apply. Candidates with a focus on topics related to poverty reduction, and the linkages among poverty, deprivation of rights, and insecurity or conflict, are especially encouraged, as are those with expertise in international responses such as program and project evaluation or advanced policy-related research methodology skills.

For this senior-level appointment, applicants should have a distinguished record of research and related publications, a successful background in teaching and mentoring, and demonstrated academic or program leadership. We anticipate the appointment will be made at the full- or associate-professor level. Exceptional assistant professors, qualified for promotion to associate professor, will also be considered for this appointment. Tenure will be considered at time of hire. Advanced degree required, preferably a PhD in a related social science discipline.

The Josef Korbel School at the University of Denver is a member of the Association of Professional Schools in International Affairs. The School offers an interdisciplinary undergraduate degree, a flagship MA program, and doctoral program. MA programs include a general international studies degree and specialized degrees in development, security, international trade and finance, human rights. The School also offers certificate programs in global health and in humanitarian affairs. The Master of Arts Program in Development
