The Department of Economics seeks applicants for a position in applied microeconomics to begin in fall 2012. Candidates with a field in public economics are especially encouraged to apply. Rank will be at the level of assistant professor. Excellence in teaching and a high level of research productivity are expected. The Department of Economics offers Ph.D., Masters, and undergraduate degrees in economics, and supports graduate and undergraduate degrees in business administration offered by the Moore School of Business, in which the department is administratively housed. The University of South Carolina is located in the city of Columbia, a rapidly growing metropolitan area of more than 650,000 people that offers excellent quality of life including outstanding schools, varied entertainment options, and strong support for the arts. Applicants should include a curriculum vitae and one or more recent papers, along with three letters of recommendation. The position requires a doctoral degree or ABD.
