The Department of Economics (part of the University's School of Economics, Finance and Management) is seeking to make an appointment at Senior Lecturer/Reader level in Economics. This is a permanent position, subject to review (tenure track). A UK Senior Lecturer/Reader position is equivalent to that of an Assistant Professor.
Applications are sought from candidates with research interests within any field of economics. You should have a strong research background and display evidence of an ability to publish consistently in top international journals, and an aptitude to teach to the highest standards at both undergraduate and masters level. As a Senior Lecturer, you will have experience in academic leadership, particularly in leading researchers/teams and teaching programmes. An exceptional candidate may be appointed to a Readership.
The Department has an international reputation for excellence in research and teaching. In the recent UK Research Assessment Exercise it was ranked joint sixth best Economics Department in the country on the basis of its research output. It comprises 25 research active staff and is home to the ESRC Centre for Market and Public Organisation and the Centre for Structural Econometrics. The proposed start date is 1 September 2011.
