The Economics Department at Occidental College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level beginning in August 2010. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to high-quality undergraduate teaching and research. Experience in undergraduate teaching is a distinct asset. We encourage applications from strong candidates in any field, particularly candidates with teaching interests that include Economic Development. Occidental College is a national liberal arts college with a broadly diverse student body and faculty. Teaching responsibilities include principles, intermediate theory, and upper-division electives. Tenure-track faculty at Occidental also contribute to the college's general education program by periodically teaching first-year seminars in their fields of interest. The normal teaching load is five courses per year, with a semester-long sabbatical every fourth year.
