Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Regulatory Economics Section of the New York State Department of Public Service has an opening for an Associate Economist (Reg. Economics). Duties include: analyzing the competitiveness of electric, gas, and telecommunications markets, as well as other regulatory economic issues such as energy efficiency, making policy recommendations, and testifying in public hearings.

The minimum qualifications are A. Either 1. a Bachelor's degree in economics; OR 2. a Bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 18 semester credit hours in economics and an additional 6 semester credit hours from among: economics, econometrics, mathematics, operations research, computer science and/or statistics; AND B. 3 years of full-time professional experience conducting economic research, one year of which must have been related to public utility regulation (electric, gas, steam, telecommunications, water utilities, and cable industry), OR 2 years professional experience conducting economic research related to public utility regulation. Graduate study in economics may be substituted for the general experience on a year-for-year basis.
