The School of Economic Sciences at Washington State University in Pullman, WA, invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track, permanent, full-time, 9-month Assistant or Associate Professor of Economics. This position requires a primary research and teaching emphasis in Microeconomic Theory, Econometric Theory or Macroeconomic Theory and a secondary interest in applied work. The successful candidate will have teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Teaching assignment will depend upon the needs of the School and the abilities of the candidate. Advising of undergraduate and graduate students is expected. Applicants must have research interests in at least one of the primary areas specified above and will be expected to develop a nationally recognized research program that includes publications in high quality refereed journals and external funding support. An appointment as an advanced Assistant Professor or Associate Professor requires a publication record in top refereed journals commensurate with the rank. Required: Ph.D. in economics or a closely related field by date of hire. Desired: Proven record or strong evidence of an ability to develop and implement a nationally recognized research program leading to effective economic problem solving, scholarly publications and external funding support in at least one of the following areas: (1) Microeconomic Theory, (2) Econometric Theory or (3) Macroeconomic Theory; A secondary interest in an applied area and a record of applied research that complements the applicant's primary field and the ability to mentor graduate students in applied research; Ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels; Effective written and oral communication skills; and the Ability to work with a variety of audiences, including governmental agency representatives, and persons of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
