Assistant Professor: Applied Economics: Behavioral Economics and Demand Analysis--Tenure track (10-12 month appointment); Teaching and Research. General Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities for this position include research and teaching in the area of the economics of consumer behavior and food demand. The research program may emphasize such topics as: behavioral economics; food demand; business practices and strategies; policy; and the analysis of the economics of food choice and other behavioral variables as related to nutrition and health status. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses in agricultural economics, demand analysis and food marketing. Opportunities will be available to supervise and advise MS and PhD graduate students. Qualifications: A PhD in agricultural economics, behavioral economics, or related field is required. Strong training in econometrics and a demonstrated interest and capability to work across disciplinary fields to incorporate other behavioral and nutritional sciences is desired. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong teaching capability, excellent communication skills, and potential for developing a nationally recognized research agenda including securing and conducting externally-funded research. As part of a major hiring initiative, the Department of Economics invites applications for six tenured and tenure-track positions. Ph.D. in economics is required by the time of appointment. All fields are welcome, but hiring will be concentrated in applied micro theory and empirical microeconomics. Candidates for the international finance position should be well versed in time series econometrics. The positions are open with respect to rank, but we expect these hires to be at the assistant or associate professor level.
