Assistant Professor, Agricultural Economist--The Department of Agricultural Economics at Michigan State
University seeks an assistant professor to develop an international reputation for scholarship in the economics
of agricultural markets. Appropriate areas of specialization include, but are not limited to, industrial
organization, marketing, price analysis, and finance. We seek an individual who can provide creative research
leadership and quality teaching and who will collaborate with other researchers at Michigan State University.
The holder of this position will be expected to develop a well funded program that results in high-quality
research, journal publications, and includes outreach to nonacademic audiences. The successful candidate will
be expected to include research on economic issues of importance to components of the Michigan and U.S.
livestock value chain. This tenure-system assistant professor or professor position has an academic year salary
basis. The assignment is 75% research and 25% teaching. This position will normally involve teaching two
courses per year. Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in agricultural economics, economics, or related

L6 Food Industry
Assistant Professor, Food Industry Management--The Department of Agricultural Economics at Michigan
State University is seeking an assistant professor to develop an outstanding research and teaching program in
food retailing, wholesaling, manufacturing, consumer marketing, or a related area. This position will normally
involve teaching 2-3 courses per year and over time will provide leadership in the Department's Food Industry
Management Program. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally and internationally
recognized research program focusing on economic, management or marketing issues related to the food
industry. Successful applicants would be expected to publish research results in professional journals and
develop a strong record of student learning and achievement. This tenure-system assistant professor position has
a 9 month salary basis. The assignment is 50% research and 50% teaching. Candidates are expected to have a
Doctoral degree in Agricultural Economics, Economics, or relevant Business related fields. Excellent teaching,
research, and communication skills are required. The ability to work collaboratively and knowledge of food
