The UCLA College of Letters and Science invites applications for the position of Director, Institute for
Research on Labor and Employment, an organized research unit at UCLA (www.irle.ucla.edu). The candidate
should be an outstanding senior scholar who is recognized as a leader in the study of labor and employment.
The Director will lead the UCLA Institute for Research on Labor and Employment, which involves but is not
limited to: (1) Setting a research agenda for the institute; (2) Convening UCLA faculty from a wide range of
campus departments and professional schools; (3) Further developing the undergraduate teaching program in
Labor Studies; and (4) Managing the Institute's internal units and relations with key off-campus stakeholders.
Someone who is not currently a member of the UCLA faculty would hold a tenured faculty appointment in one
of the UCLA social science departments (www.sscnet.ucla.edu/college). Applications will be reviewed starting
on November 1, 2007, but will be accepted until the position is filled, with the goal of making an appointment

The Department of Public Policy of the UCLA School of Public Affairs seeks to recruit an outstanding
economist at all ranks with policy-oriented research and teaching interests. We are open with respect to area of
specialization, but the successful candidate will have a distinguished record of accomplishment appropriate to
rank. The position will involve research, teaching, and service contributions to the Department. Our current
faculty's substantive applied interests include social, economic, crime, health, education, environmental,
national security, development, and international policy, as well as organizational design, ethics, and the policy-making process. The Department offers a two-year Master of Public Policy (MPP) degree program and

E1 Macroeconomics
The UCLA Anderson Forecast, a research center of the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management,
seeks to hire a full-time research/teaching economist. This is a non-tenure track position with a two-year
contract, with possible renewal. Researchers contribute to the ongoing work performed by the center to create
economic outlooks for the nation, California, and a variety of local regions. Research includes policy analysis
along with econometric modeling. Independent research is strongly encouraged. Academic teaching is optional.
Preference will be given to applicants with academic or other professional research experience, but applications
from new Ph.D.s will be considered. The position requires production of high-level analysis for presentation
forecast conferences and publications to a diverse audience including academicians, business people and
