University of California, Berkeley seeks applicants at the rank of full professor to apply for a chaired
professorship in Tax Policy and Public Finance to commence academic year 2008-09. The holder of this
Professorship would be a member of the Robert D. Burch Center for Tax Policy and Public Finance and would
work closely with the Director and the staff of the Center. This position is not assigned to a given department or
school, but rather the chairholder hired under this search could be assigned to a number of different departments or
schools. Potential units might include the Boalt School of Law, Goldman School of Public Policy, and the
Economics Department. Qualifications for this appointment include outstanding research accomplishments,

Global Metropolitan Studies, Metropolitan Infrastructure Planning and Management--University of
California, Berkeley, solicits applications for new faculty position in Metropolitan Infrastructure Planning and
Management. Position filled at Assistant Professor level. Anticipated starting date July 1, 2008. Successful
candidate must hold doctorate in civil engineering, city planning, economics or allied field. Must demonstrate
potential for high-quality research and teaching. Candidates expected to have interest in energy systems,
transportation systems, water systems, or other infrastructure sectors. Expertise in quantitative areas such as
econometrics, finance, game theory or operations research desired, along with interest in policy analysis. Focal
areas of research may include one or more of following: alternate financing systems for infrastructure
development and management; evaluation of infrastructure projects and investment programs; investigating
interactions between infrastructure investments, land use, economic development and environmental impacts;
design of demand side and supply side policies for reducing environmental effects of infrastructure provision
and operation; and equity and access considerations in infrastructure planning, development, and financing.

Metropolitan Studies Initiative. Candidate expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses; develop new
courses within Metropolitan Studies Initiative; and interact with faculty in Center for Global Metropolitan
Studies, other campus research centers, and relevant professional organizations. Candidates with professional
