The School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) invites applications for the combined position of Faculty and Head of Department of Economics. The position entails both academic and administrative responsibilities. The duration of the contract as the Head of the Department would be three years. At the end of the three-year period, the applicant would resume his/her position as a faculty member. The position opens from September 2007; however the date of joining is negotiable. Applicants should preferably be at an Associate Professor/Professor level with an established publication record. The applicants should also have demonstrated administrative and leadership skills needed to plan for and contribute to the growth of the department. The Lahore University of Management Sciences, established in 1985, is Pakistan's premier academic institution. The Department of Economics at LUMS is a young fast-growing department of international standard. The Department places high value on quality research that pushes the frontiers of theoretical and applied knowledge. It also serves as an intellectual resource base in the region and plays an important role in the making of public policy. The medium of instruction is English.
