Tier I Canada Research Chair in International Economics or the Economics of Natural Resources (including Energy and the Environment). The Departments of Economics (Faculty of Arts) and of Marketing, Business Economics and Law (School of Business) invite applications for nomination to a University of Alberta Tier I Canada Research Chair in International Economics or the Economics of Natural Resources (including Energy and the Environment). This is a position for an outstanding researcher active in fields that are of common interest to the two Departments. An attractive aspect of this position is that the successful candidate will have colleagues in each Department that are actively doing research and teaching in the identified fields. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and to supervise graduate student research, while exerting a leadership role through his or her research agenda. The Canada Research Chairs program was established by the Government of Canada to foster world-class research excellence. As stated in the program's Terms of Reference (www.chairs.gc.ca/), 'Tier I Chairs, tenable for seven years and renewable, are for outstanding researchers acknowledged by their peers as world leaders in their fields.' Appointment of the successful candidate as a Canada Research Chair is conditional upon review and approval by the CRC Secretariat. Applicants must have a PhD, with an outstanding track record in research activities and publication. We primarily seek candidates at the rank of Professor; exceptional candidates at a more junior level may be considered. The University of Alberta hires on the basis of merit. We are committed to the principle of equity in employment. We welcome diversity and encourage applications from all qualified men and women, including persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities, and Aboriginal persons. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority. Applicants should send curriculum vitae, a letter describing their research interests, samples of current research papers and publications, and a teaching dossier and evaluations of teaching performance to: Dr. André Plourde, Chair, Department of Economics, 8-14 Henry Marshall Tory Building, University of Alberta, Edmonton AB Canada T6G 2H4. Applicants must also arrange for three confidential letters of reference to be sent to the Chair. Consideration of applications will begin in August and will continue until an appointment is made.
