PURDUE UNIVERSITY, West Lafayette, IN Q0 Environmental & Natural Resource Economics
Tenure track Assistant Professor in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics. The person hired for this
position will expand the University's environment-related research, outreach and education agenda to include
the economic dimensions of such topics as climate change, energy use, and land use change. The position will
be in the Department of Agricultural Economics, one of the largest and most distinguished departments of
agricultural and applied economics in the US. The department maintains a diverse portfolio of activities with
strong research programs in international trade, development, agricultural and energy policy, production
agriculture and agribusiness. The successful applicant will develop an internationally recognized research
program. S/he will be expected to publish and lead research projects, obtain external, competitive grant support,
and work with graduate students. While the primary thrust of this position is in the research area, involvement
in resident teaching activities, advising and outreach to local, state or national audiences is expected. Purdue
University has recently established three research centers on campus of relevance to this position: the Purdue
Climate Change Research Center (www.purdue.edu/climate), the Center for
the Environment (www.discoverypark.purdue.edu/wps/portal/Environment), and the Purdue Energy Center
(www.discoverypark.purdue.edu/wps/portal/Energy). The successful candidate will be expected to build
collaborative relationships with one or more of these centers, as well as with other departments on campus. The
candidate must have a Ph.D. in economics, environmental economics, agricultural economics or a related field.
Demonstrated ability in economic theory and quantitative methods is expected, with evidence of applied
research related to the environment, which may include applications of organizational economics, contract
theory, experimental economics and mechanism design as they relate to the environment. The candidate should
have a demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary work. The position requires the ability to communicate orally
and in writing and the skill to be an effective teacher when working in public forums or the classroom. A
