UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN, Ann Arbor, MI
C0 Quantitative Economics
The Department of Economics seeks to appoint an experienced economist as the Director of the Research
Seminar in Quantitative Economics (RSQE). RSQE — founded by Lawrence Klein in 1952 — publishes
forecasts of the national and Michigan economies, advises university and government officials, and participates
in revenue estimation for the State of Michigan. The Director of RSQE provides leadership for creating
macroeconomic models for a comprehensive forecast and analysis of GDP and its major components, as well as
related variables such as unemployment, tax revenue and foreign trade. The Director reports periodically to the
Governor, the State Legislature and the State Department of Treasury, and participates in Michigan's consensus
revenue estimating conference. He or she also advises the University's executive leadership on economic
issues. The Director of RSQE has the primary responsibility for recruiting, retaining, and interacting with
RSQE's research scientists. This position involves the management of a small staff. More information about
RSQE can be found at http://www.umich.edu/~rsqe/. We expect that the person selected for this position will
hold a research appointment in the Department of Economics and/or other units of the university. The selected
candidate's qualifications will determine the level. The position may also include an instructional appointment.
