The Economics faculty in the College of Business and Public Policy at the University of Alaska Anchorage
(UAA) are currently inviting applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Economics and
Director of the UAA Center for Economic Education. The Center for Economic Education's primary focus is
teacher training and the Center engages in many activities to support the teaching of economics such as offering
in-service courses, providing consultant services to schools, educational agencies, and community groups and
developing curriculum materials. The successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. in Economics, or related field
(ABD with expected completion by August 2008 will be considered), have a demonstrated record of successful
teaching of economics at the university level and must have demonstrated experience in economic education
and research as well as the ability to acquire funding from external sources. Specific duties include teaching
undergraduate courses in economics; conducting and publishing research in economics and/or economic
education; teaching specialized credit economics courses and related non-credit programs for teachers at the
pre-service and in-service levels; securing and administering grants and contracts to support center operations;
administrative duties related to day-to-day operations of the center, including extensive work with budgets and
reports and oversight of center staff; curriculum-development work with school districts; development of high-quality economic education instructional materials/curriculum; maintenance of state, national, and international
contacts in economic education; board service on the Alaska Council on Economic Education, a non-profit
educational organization; and developing and maintaining community partnerships. Employment will start at
