The United States Coast Guard Academy invites applications for both tenure-track and temporary faculty positions in Economics/Finance. The full-time or part-time temporary position(s) will begin in August 2007 and the tenure-track position will begin in August 2008. ABOUT THE SCHOOL: The U.S. Coast Guard Academy is a highly selective federal military college providing a rigorous undergraduate program. In addition, the Coast Guard Academy provides the professional education and training required to prepare young women and men for careers as commissioned officers in the US Coast Guard — the oldest lifesaving service, well-known for its humanitarian missions. Offering B.S. degrees in eight academic majors: management, government, operations research, marine/environmental science, civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering, and naval architecture; the Academy is staffed with over 100 full-time civilian and military faculty. The attractive riverside campus is home to a nationally representative student body of about 1,000. The Academy is located near the shoreline of southeastern Connecticut, midway between New York and Boston, and is within commuting range of regional and national colleges and universities in the CT/RI/MA tri-state area. JOB DESCRIPTION: The positions are in the AACSB-accredited Department of Management, which sponsors the Management major. Teaching responsibilities may include Financial Management and acroeconomic Principles, and electives such as Investment Theory at the undergraduate level. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified candidates will at minimum be ABD in a relevant discipline, a Ph.D. in Finance or Economics is preferred. Experience in and/or the ability to teach Financial Management and/or Macroeconomics is desired. Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with the candidate's record. Some citizenship restrictions may apply.
