L8 Industry Studies: Real Estate
The International Council of Shopping Centers is a
leading global trade association for the retail real
estate industry. Founded in 1957, the association
has more than 65,000 members in the United States,
Canada and more than 80 countries. The
association membership consists of shopping center
owners, developers, managers, marketing specialists,
researcher, investors, lenders, retailers as well as
academics and public officials. The research
department covers three core areas: (1) global
research information, (2) global research and
analysis and (3) industry policy and impact studies.
Industry policy and impact studies is a newly created
functional area within the department to better serve
the need of our growing global public sector
constituency. This area will perform and coordinate
public policy research as well as oversee a new
scholar/fellow program. The goal of the
scholar/fellow program is to generate 'thought
leadership' that can be shared through books,
articles and conference presentations. ICSC's
Research Department has an opening for a Senior
Economist, which will report directly to the Director
of Research and Chief Economist. Duties of the
position include identifying and analyzing industry
development issues, conducting or contracting
research to measure the impact of the industry and
overseeing the scholar program. Applicants should
have strong analytical skills as well as good written,
interpersonal, and oral communications skills. ICSC
will consider candidates with A M.A., ABD, and/or
Ph.D. degrees in economics or a related field; we
may also consider B.A. recipients with work
experience in economic analysis. Qualified
