Applications are invited from suitably qualified
applicants for 3 Postdoctoral Fellowship positions to
carry out research on topics associated with a large
project jointly funded by the Australian Research
Council and National Health and Medical Research
Council. The project, titled Working Longer: Policy
Reforms and Practice Innovations, will forecast
demographic and health transition in Australia and
develop capacity to analyse the likely economic and
workplace adjustments that population ageing will
generate. Two fellows will be based in the Faculty
of Business at the University of New South Wales;
one will work with Professor John Piggott in the
area of retirement financing and retirement timing
and the other will work with Professor Phil Bohle in
the area of workplace participation and occupational
health and safety. The third fellow will be based in
the University of Sydney's Faculty of Economics
and Business and will work with Professor Alan
Woodland in the area of dynamic economic effects
of population ageing. The positions are full-time
fixed term for three years, subject to the completion
of a satisfactory probation period for new
appointees. Essential criteria and application

have a complete or near complete PhD in
economics, actuarial studies or related discipline;
high level skills in stochastic analysis and modelling;
excellent computing and communications skills; and
the ability to work both independently and as a
