Sample of Journal Reference StyleNote: See Submission Guidelines for Authors for complete submission information. Here's a short list of general rules to follow when creating your citation list. This is not an exhaustive list, but we've tried to include as many scenarios as possible. Please try to verify that all the references in the citation list correspond to citations in the text. List the references alphabetically by last name; if you use several references by the same author, then sort the references by date in ascending order. If a particular author has two or more publications in the same year, please differentiate between them with the letters a, b, c, and so on. In a list of two or more authors, please invert the first author's name only. If the reference has more than three authors, please list the primary author's name, followed by "et al." When possible, we prefer that you use full names for authors, rather than using initials for first names. The publication year should appear right after the author's name. All publication titles should be capitalized. Book and journal titles should be written in italics; everything else in the reference should be regular Roman text. Titles of articles should be listed in quotation marks. When indicating the volume and number of a journal, please use a colon between the two, like this: 12:1. Please do not use italics, bold, parentheses, or any other identifiers.
