CSWEP Board Member - Susan Averett

Susan AverettSusan L. Averett is the Charles A. Dana Professor of Economics at Lafayette College and has been a member of the faculty there since 1991. She received her doctorate in economics from the University of Colorado in 1991. Her research centers around adolescent risky behavior, the economics of obesity and the effect of marriage on health. She is the author of dozens of refereed journal articles and her work has been published in various refereed journals including: The Papers and Proceedings of the American Economic Review, The Review of Economics and Statistics, The Journal of Health Economics, The Journal of Human Resources, The American Journal of Public Health and Economic Inquiry. She is the coauthor of a textbook titled: Women and the Economy: Family, Work and Pay which is in its second edition. She is the co-editor of The Eastern Economic Journal. Her research has been featured in the New York Times, the Boston Globe and U.S.A. Today and the Today Show.

At Lafayette College she teaches courses in econometrics, health economics and women in the economy. She has served on the college's promotion, tenure and review committee and is also the college's Faculty Athletic Representative to the NCAA. She is proud to have mentored several students who are currently enrolled in economics PhD programs.
