Centre for Research in Network Economics and Communications (CRNEC)
This center, located at the University of Auckland, studies "economic
issues arising in network industries." Some of their expertise is
general, but they also are knowledgeable in the telecommunications,
electricity, transportation, and water industries. Of particular
interest is their work on interconnection pricing policies, number
portability effects, and congestion pricing. They also offer training
courses (to non-economists) and "take an active interest in New
Zealand's unique approach to economic regulation." Further information
about CRNEC is located here, as are their working and policy discussion
papers and a list of their staff.
