| Subject: | Conference Theme: Quality of Life and Environment In the last decades, quality of life has become a central issue for those who plan and study cities or places where people live in response to growing pressures on urban communities, concern about the impacts of urbanisation and the effects of this on the well being of residents. Today, as the majority of the worlds population resides in urban areas, the issue of Quality of Life and Environment has to be explored more systematically through measuring and documenting the environment objectively and as it is experienced by residents. Once it is analysed, measured and documented, there appears the necessity to find ways to increase the quality of life. The concept of quality of life is also linked to sustainable development such that unless we engage with more sustainable practices the quality of life and environment will be deteriorated. AicE-Bs 2011 focuses attention on the concept of Quality of lLfe and Environment and contributes to the debate on the concept of quality of life as a key element of responsive environmental design.
