| Subject: | The Organizing Committee of the 17th ICABR Conference invites the submission of abstracts, and session proposals addressing the theme: Innovation and Policy for the Bioeconomy. The European Commission has defined the bioeconomy as consisting of . the production of renewable biological resources and the conversion of these resources and waste streams into value-added products, such as food, feed, bio-based products and bioenergy. Possible themes for abstracts for individual presentations and panel sessions include: 1. Definitions, measurement and importance of the bioeconomy in developed and developing countries. 2. The impact of intellectual property, regulations and governance on innovation in the bioeconomy. 3. The impacts of innovations in the bioeconomy on agriculture, food production and farmers incomes. 4. Will innovation in the bioeconomy support sustainable development? 5. The role of consumer attitudes and civil society organizations in determining the demand for innovation in the bioeconomy. 6. Innovative research methods for evaluating impact of bioeconomy policies, regulations and programs. 7. How can the resource-efficiency of food supply chains be increased to ensure food security?
